Great results for Whitefield Sixth Form, 2023

This summer's KS5 Vocational and A Level exams produced some remarkable achievements, which Whitefield School is pleased to share. Given that this group of students received teacher-assessed GCSE results in 2021, many of them took their first-ever formal exams that year.  You probably already know this from press reports, but this year's tests were graded harsher than they were last year, with grade boundaries similar to those in 2019. Many of our students have nevertheless managed to earn the marks required for admission to their top universities despite this.

We have lots to celebrate with our A Level courses, and some fantastic achievements in our vocational courses.

Headteacher Chris Hunt said: “We are so proud of our students.  They have all put so much effort into their studies.  A huge amount of pressure came with these sets of exams.  However,  despite the stress our students have performed well.  These set of results have set up our students for their next steps, be it in further education, employment or training. I wish them every success as they move onto the next stage of their lives and cannot wait to hear about their future successes. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the amazing staff at Whitefield School, who have worked tirelessly to support every student. On behalf of the students and Governors too, a huge thank you!”

Not to be lost in the overall grades, there are some remarkable individual stories of extraordinary students who obtained top grades. One of these students is Manar who achieved an A* in Italian, A in Finance, C in Psychology and C in Sociology. She is going to study Psychology at City, University of London. Another is Ilhaam who achieved A in Chemistry, A in Psychology and B in Biology and will be studying Pharmacology at UCL.

Other success stories include Abdulla who achieved A in Arabic, Distinction* in Travel and Tourism, and a Distinction in ICT. He is off to the University of South Wales to study Aerospace Engineering with a Foundation Year, Georgia who achieved an A in Art and will be studying Graphic Design at University of the Arts London.

Harry achieved a Distinction and a B and is really excited to study Media, Communication and Sociology at CIty, University of London. Harry has been interested in media for many years and has helped the school with recording promotional videos. Today when we spoke to him he was pleased with his results and is excited to be going to City Uni. He had these words for advice to give ‘Do not worry about not knowing what you want to do, it will work itself out’.

As usual our students were on hand to give lots of words of advice. Adam (who will be studying Finance and Accounting at Brunel University) said ‘The best way to predict your future is to create it’. Sammi, who joined us in Year 12 having moved to the UK in August 2021 had these words of advice ‘Either you run the day or the day runs you’. He is off to Queen Mary University to study International Relations. Yassin, who is going to be studying Architecture at the University of Greenwich said this ‘Follow your dreams and work hard for it’

A delighted Louise Cavanagh, Assistant Headteacher said "We are so proud of each and every one of our students. The Sixth Form Team have been assisting them in securing their next steps and it’s been a pleasure to see their happy expressions today. The school sends its warmest wishes for success in all of their future endeavours."

As always we have some students who are off to complete an apprenticeship or into the workplace. Keeping your options open and taking the path that is right for you is something we believe at Whitefield School so it’s brilliant to see students taking an alternative pathway instead of university.

We are so proud of our students and would like to wish them the very best of luck for their future.
