Clarion Rebrand FAQ
Welcome to the FAQ page for our exciting transition from Whitefield School to Clarion. Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions regarding our rebrand, history, and upcoming changes.
Why is Whitefield School being renamed to Clarion?
The decision to rename the school comes as part of our vision to modernise and refresh our identity and to celebrate the accomplishments the school has made over the last couple of years. The name “Clarion” was chosen through consultation with parents, students, and the local community. It represents both light—derived from “Clare,” the Latin word for light—and our location on Claremont Road, connecting tradition and the bright future we are building.
Will Clarion now join a Multi Academy Trust (MAT)?
No, we will continue to operate as a standalone school.
How was the name “Clarion” chosen?
The name was chosen after a wide-ranging consultation that included parents, students, staff, and local community members. In addition, we held a creative competition with Year 5 students from local primary schools, who contributed name ideas and logo designs. The name “Clarion” emerged as the ideal blend of historical significance and a modern outlook for our school.
What was the role of local primary schools in the rebranding?
We invited Year 5 students from local primary schools to participate in a special competition. They were asked to design logos and suggest names for the new school. Their creativity and input were invaluable, and their contributions helped shape the final identity of Clarion, giving a fresh, youthful perspective to our rebranding process.
What does the new name represent?
The name Clarion is deeply symbolic. “Clare” is Latin for light, symbolising the school’s commitment to illuminating young minds and fostering bright futures. It also serves as a nod to Claremont Road, maintaining a connection to our school’s location and heritage. The name perfectly captures both our historic roots and our forward-looking vision.
What does the logo represent?
Will the rebrand affect the school’s values or academic focus?
No, our core values remain unchanged. While the name is new, our dedication to academic excellence, character development, and community engagement will remain as strong as ever. Clarion represents a refreshed commitment to these principles.
