Introducing Clarion: A new beginning for the local community

As we celebrate the rich history and achievements of Whitefield School on its 70th anniversary, we are excited to announce a new beginning for the local community. With the help of top creative studio DNCO, known for their work on the high-profile project Brent Cross Town regeneration and renaming the London Overground lines, we are rebranding the school under a new name: Clarion.

This transformation was shaped by a strong sense of community. As part of the rebranding process, we held a special competition and invited all local primary schools to get involved. Year 5 students from Claremont, Hyde, Wessex Gardens and Parkfield schools participated in an artistic competition to design new logos and suggest potential names for our school! Their creativity and enthusiasm were inspiring, and their contributions played a part in shaping the identity of Clarion.

After careful consideration and consultation with parents, students and the local community, the name Clarion was chosen. The name is rooted in tradition and forward-thinking. Inspired by "Clare," the Latin word for clear, bright and shining, the name reflects our commitment to illuminating young minds and nurturing bright futures. It also pays homage to Claremont Road, tying the school’s identity to its location. The combination of these ideas—light and place—makes Clarion the perfect blend of history and modernity, embracing a new era of education.

A New Beginning: Welcome to Clarion

Preparing for the future, we are not just renaming the school; we are reimagining it. This transformation marks a refreshed commitment to providing the highest quality education, grounded in our values of Ambition, Respect and Effort (‘ARE’), ‘We ARE Clarion’. Our vision is to develop well-rounded pupils who achieve great grades and have great character.  The rebranding process includes a host of exciting changes whilst maintaining the highest of standards we have brought in over the last two years and year on year continue to raise these further. We are redesigning our school uniforms, selecting timeless colours, a modern design and fit which reflects students' sense of pride and prestige to be part of our school community.  Alongside the uniforms, the Clarion logo and website, offer a fresh, cohesive identity that mirrors our school’s innovative spirit. The contributions from the Year 5 students in our local primary schools have been especially important. The competition helped us generate fresh ideas for our logo, name, and overall design direction, allowing us to incorporate the creativity of our future students into Clarion’s identity. Their input symbolises the vibrant future we are building for generations to come. Our commitment to academic excellence remains as strong as ever, with a renewed focus on achieving outstanding grades, cultivating great character, and preparing students for success in an ever-evolving world.  This year we have seen the best set of results ever in the schools history placing us within the top 20% of schools nationally.  Our next ambition is to be within the top 5% of all schools.
