Last week ITV News visited Whitefield School to talk to us about Chris Hunt’s TES Headteacher of the Year 2025 nomination. We were happy to show them the work that goes on during the school day as well as have conversations with staff and students about the impactful work that we do.

Being shortlisted is an incredible honour. Mr Hunt is one of only eight Headteachers nationwide to be selected for the shortlist, a testament to his exceptional leadership, commitment, and the positive impact he has had on our school community.

Often described as the "Oscars" of the education world, the TES Schools Awards celebrate excellence by recognising the most inspiring individuals and institutions across the country. Jon Severs, Editor of Tes Magazine, stated, “We’ve seen some incredible entries nominated in this year’s awards. The Tes Schools Awards are a highlight of the year, and it’s important that we properly recognise the fantastic work that's been done in education across the academic year.”

Although Mr Hunt did not win the award this time, reaching the shortlist for such a prestigious national award is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly proud. The winners of the 2025 TES Awards were announced at a ceremony on Friday 20th June and Whitefield were represented by Mr Hunt, Mrs Hammond and Mr Hicks.
