This term at Whitefield School we recently welcomed the newly elected Education Secretary, Bridget Phillipson, the home secretary Yvette Cooper and campaigner Georgia Harrison for a healthy relationships workshop. We are extremely grateful that they could make time for this important session just days before a general election.

During the session, pupils used drama and theatre techniques to understand when behaviour can become harmful and what does and doesn’t contribute to a healthy relationship. We created a space for discussion around healthy relationships and misogyny, which the new Labour government wants to see in schools across the country, to help guide young men and boys away from misogynistic views.

We were also extremely happy to have Georgia Harrison join our workshop, who has been a fantastic campaigner for women who have been victims of image based abuse and non-consensual intimate image abuse. Further highlighting the necessity of understanding consent and positive relationships.

We are also grateful to our amazing students who demonstrated how drama techniques can be used to facilitate this kind of workshop.
